Carnival makeup look + nails: the Giraffe

Carnival is a great occasion for us italian to dress up, I guess this festivity has the same importance Halloween has in USA.
Anyway, if you want to get a last minute costume or you didn’t decide yet, here’s a simple makeup look perfect to be paired with a cheap animal onesie!
Giraffes never get out of fashion.

This year I got a little abandoned by creative thinking, I had so much thoughts in my head that I didn’t realize how close Carnival was so I didn’t plan anything in time. I then decided to go for a simple look, something last-minute inspired by the giraffe onesie I bought on Ebay a while ago.

The onesie is made of a super-warm chenille and is incredibly inexpensive: I spent something like 20€ shipping fee included, from China obviously.
If you want one too (there’s a ton of different choices, all unbelievably cute) just search on Ebay something like “animal onesie” and you’ll be entering the amazing world of comfy, warm and cute overalls you’ll never want to stop wearing.

So I had the onesie, all I needed was proper makeup and nails.
I must say I didn’t care about using the same colours of the overall but chose more natural and simple shades of brown.

Super-easy: I started drawing the outline of the spots with a white pencil and then, with the same pencil, I started creating a gradient with a dark brown eyeshadow. I then went on adding some more brown, gold and copper shades. A simple smokey on the eyes and a nude lip pencil for the lips and…done!

On the nails I recreated the giraffe print, just as I did on my face, with a yellow nail polish as a base and then I drew the spots with a brown one. For the thumb and annular I chose to paint the whole nail, whereas I did a diagonal french on the other fingers outlined with a golden nail polish.

Excited huh? Well, I am :)

I hope you liked all this a lot and…Have fun on Mardi Gras!
